4S Getting Hot

    Hi,

This has been mentioned on another thread, but my iphone 4S heats up dramatically when using apps on the 3G. This doesn't happen when using wifi at home.

Whilst it seems to be an issue for some, I'm wondering is it the norm? Can anyone say for certain that their's definitely doesn't heat up?

This is my first iphone. Battery life seems to be an issue too, especially having come from a Nokia E52 that only needed a charge every few days!

    Thanks...

There's going to be a massive change in battery life from the E52 due to the touchscreen. I'd get 2 days with light use, checking emails, weather, music etc. A day/day and a half with heavier use. A lot of browsing, tethering on 3G I'd need to recharge that night.

If its hot, ring Apple and get them to replace it. They can get warm, but hot doesn't sound right at all.

I'm barely getting a day (15hrs) out of a full charge on modrate (at most) usage. Will Apple deal with me or should I go through my man in Mumbai (aka "3 Ireland")??:)

    Whats the no. for Apple?

It depends on your usage, brightness, etc, but most people probably only get a day or so out of the battery.

What are apps are you using over 3G?

It got really hot on Saturday evening trying to get the Lotto no's on the National Lottery app, kept sticking too. I'll give them a call and see what happens. As I said it was mentioned on another thread, but doesn't seem to be the norm.

I have brightness well down. I turn off the wifi and bluetooth when not in use.

^^^^^bet me to it... yeah, theres a few problems alright with overheating... http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2011/11/28/iphone_combusts_burns_on_australian_flight

Australian airline reports case of burning iPhone on flight. Regional Express, Australia's largest independent regional airline, issued a press release on an incident shortly after a flight landed late last week. Flight ZL319 had just landed when a passenger's mobile phone started emitting a significant amount of dense smoke, and started glowing red.

A Flight Attendant extinguished the burning phone immediately and no passengers or crew were harmed. Regional Express reported the incident to the Australian Transport Safety Board (ATSB) and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

The mobile phone in question is identified as an Apple iPhone, which shows a significant amount of damage to the rear of the phone. Reports online indicate that the iPhone shows evidence that the burning came from the battery, which would explain the red glow and the release of smoke.
