Iam just wondering how much hassel would it be to change a road bike from down turned handle bars (right name?) to flat bars?
I want to get maybe a second hand giant ocr3 or something with carbon forks and then change it over to flat bars.
I dont wont the bike for using it on the road or doing mad km's, just cruising the cycle tracks on the beach front.
I know new levers and shifters would be needed, but would it be worth it?

The answer is "a lot". You'd have to rework the breaking system and shifters, possibly having to buy a bunch of new components.

It is cheaper to go to flat bar as the shifters are a lot cheaper, but why on earth would you go out and BUY a drop bar bike just to convert it? You will get a hybrid already with flats for far less.

    don't forget to budget for clip-on aero bars - they're great on a flat-bar road bike :D

Giant Rapid 3 - flat bar with carbon front fork. No need to mess about with conversions etc.
If you are lucky you may still get 2011 models online new for a great price.
