Advice on small engine car to get

Myself & the girlfriend are getting married next year so I'm getting rid of my Santa Fe Diesel (02 with long NCT) to get into something smaller with lower tax for the year while we're saving.

I was thinking a Peugeot 407 Diesel because I'm driving diesels the last 4 years and have relatively hassle free motoring but in one garage I went to the sales guy said for the mileage I do - 13 miles in & 13 miles out of work each day - a small petrol would probably be as cheap.

This threw a real spanner in the works because I had discounted all of these. The advantage of this is that the €3500 or so I'll get for the jeep will buy me a lot newer car if I go small petrol. 05 -06 as opposed to 03-04 Peugeot 407 Diesel.

He had a 1.2 Seat Cordoba and a 1.2 Ibiza there and also a 1.4 Megane. From looking around I could get a 1.4 Corolla or a 1.4 Peugeot 307 either.

Only real issue I have is getting a Baby & a buggy into the back seat & the boot (in that order). Have any of you guys who know more than me got any advice or suggestions

If you just doing 26 miles a day and your aim is to save money keep the Santa Fe, your only saving will be motor tax, probably 300 at max a year, nit worth doing especially as your current car has long NCT.
