    Hi,

I'm looking for a new pair of runners. I have flat feet and overpronate when running. I'm a moderate runner. I have found any neutral shoe seems to have a negative impact on my knees.

I have a pair of Asics Gel Kayano 16, which need changing. Any recommendations?

    Thanks a mill,

    gronja

You have a choice. You could stick with the Kayanos or if you were looking to try something different you could try mild/moderate support style shoes which include the Saucony progrid mirage, asics GT2160, New Balance 860 or if you want a bit more cushioning try the Mizuno wave inspire. Your best bet is to hit a good running store and get a gait analysis done, most do this for free as long as its booked in advance.

I would disagree with deego here.the shoes he has suggested vary alot.
The Saucony mirage is a minimalist shoe and has a touch of guidance.

How does a mizuno wave Inspire have more cushioning than a gt 2160?

I would suggest gettign your gait checked.if you have flat feet you may need a running shoe with a Linear platform.

Sorry clubcard, are you asking me a direct question there or this this the start of a pi**ing competition on who knows more about shoes?

I think you will find this is a forum where we can give our opinions.
Wouldn't mind if you could tell us how the mizuno inspire has more cushioning?

It's not the question that irritates me, it's the way it was put. I know I gave her a wide range of light to moderate choices, inc minimal, but I did advise her to get a gait check. I tested both shoes and even though the height diff is more or less the same in the GT and the Mizuno, the feel from both is much different. The gapping in the wave tech makes the cushioning feel much softer and this was backed up by others that I know who tried them. So to answer your question the cushioning height and make up may be similar, but the Mizuno's feel softer. She's new to running I didn't want to wreck her head. If you read back you will realise you were being a bit condescending.

It depends what way you read it !!!I asked a direct question and you choose not to answer it in your first reply.
how could you wreck her head :D sure you only suggested 4 shoes.

An important question here is how badly the OP overpronates - I'm in the Kayano 17 and I honestly do need quite a lot of support. I'd get injured quite quickly in a lot of the light-moderate support shoes mentioned.

If she does need that level of support, then the Brooks Adrenaline, Asics 3030, Mizuno Wave Nirvana or Alchemy would probably be more what she's looking for.

That's why she should have her gait analysed, I should have left it at that instead of getting into a bun fight with the shoe police.

    Hi,

Thanks a mill for the replies. I did get a gait analysis done before in Elverys. At the time the only real choices for overpronators were the Kayanos and New Balance. I didn't like the feel of the New Balance so I opted for the Kayano's.

Definately has given me some food for thought. I will do a bit of research based on your suggestions.

    Cheers
