What's the best way to rip MY Blu Ray, with the least amount of Programs as Possible that will allow me to (1)have a viewable Full Perfect Movie, (2)take out foreign languages/subtitles and also (3)then to reduce the size to a preference of my choosing?

Preferably free as I am a poverty stricken boardie but if ANYDVD is best so be it.

I use MakeMKV , and keep just the main movie with the HD audio track , and forced subtitles .
My movies play back perfectly with MediaPortal , and average filesize is anywhere between 15 and 40 GB (although Return of the King is 65GB  , I combined both discs as one .mkv file . All three Lord of the Rings movies add up to 176GB )

MakeMKV is free while in beta :)

There's also DVDFab and Anydvd , both have free trial periods so you can see which one suits you beter .

    I can't help with resizing/compressing as I don't bother with it .
All my movies are ripped and left uncompressed

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ninja,

What do you mean by forced Subtitles?

    Thanks for replies guys.

Some movies have a seperate subttle track that is turned in by default - like The Bourne Identity , when someone is speaking french or german the english subtitles come on .
The same with Lord of the Rings , when they're speaking elvish , the english subtitles appear by themselves .

For anyone that comes across this Thread down the road, Handbrake lets you alter the Movie (Sizewise) once it's on your computer, you can easily knock a third or more off the size without noticing it on the majority of Films, especially if it's a drama/comedy with little Action/fast paced stuff.

I haven't played around with HD Audio enough yet to see if their's much of a difference but if you lose that, you can save up to 8GB aswell.
