    looking for peoples ideas..

feed weanlings in 2 8' troughs inside a 16' standard gate. have always stood on gate and spread the meal.

something similar to a coal bucket would make life easier as could feed through the bars of gate (due to the long neck)

any others ideas other than stealing my mothers coal bucket! (which would be bit small anyway..)

Make up a raised 'walkway' with a heavy plank on blocks?

How come you don't have a barrier that you could feed them on the outside?

What's wrong with feeding meal on top of the silage?

I find theres good bit of waste this way and only 8 can fit in the 10 headspace barrier. can feed 12 together with troughs. dont feed them ad lib, only give a kg or so each so if they cant get there when given they miss out.. of course its always the smaller ones left loooking on.

Yes I see now where you are coming from.

I can't really suggest anything else to you that would be constructive and low cost.

What about this... similar to your own idea and would easily reach through a gate... Suppose it would hold about 8-10kg of meal..

Not fancy pants but cheap, practical and clean..

We always feed meal onto the silage, don't see waste but they do tend to nose the silage out of reach to get down to every last nut...
