Where to get a space saver wheel?

My wife drives a 04 VW Touran and instead of a spare wheel it only has the bottle of gunk and an electric pump which having hit a pothole previously was about as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking competition.

Spoke to the VW dealership who said a space saver wheel would cost about €350 - seems a tad on the pricey side given you can get a wheel for at least half that.

Anyone know if there are other options or recommendations for getting one?

Could get a regular spare wheel obviously but will take up a lot of room.

    Thanks

Far as I know they share wheel stud pattern with mk5 golf?
Space saver from one of them?

Have a look around the scrappies for golf wheels. I'd guess that €50 max would buy one.

Just watch the stud pattern is the same.

Stud pattern should be 5x112 for that car.

Remember if the car doesn't have a tyre well in the boot then a donut will still take up some space in the boot.

i saw there yesterday (oddly while i was getting a puncture fixed (poxy nail ) )

a woman went in with a flat in a Renualt Espace and the the wheel wasnt in the boot - maybe the case here ?

it was under the car or something - cant access it from the boot ?

Some Mini's came with a spare underneath and some with that Poxy bottle of stuff.

I remember on a Freelander 2 commercial if you wanted a full size spare you had to have a huge wheel thrown in the back, comepletely pointless lol.

It was very common on French cars to have the spare wheel strapped underneath the car. Unfortunately these were easy for thieves to steel but some still do put them there especially on MPVs were all available interior space is utilised. Imo a can of tyre weld is unacceptable as a replacement for a full size spare or spacesaver. A can of tyre weld is feck all use to you if you get a rip in the side wall of a tyre.

I've no spare wheel or tyre well in my car because it came with run flats but I recently switched to standard tyres and got myself a space saver and jack. Luckily I don't need all the space of the boot and just stick them in there.
