Large 4 engine aircraft over kilkenny?

Hey all. I know you get these threads often but I couldnt find any info on the flight radar as it only lets you rewind 2 hours without a subscription, or anywhere else about this so Ill make a post here.

About mid day today my mother said a large 4 engined aircraft flew over our house at 1000ft or less. She said it was extremely loud and painted a silvery blue colour. First thing that came to my mind was a C-130 Hercules but why would that be operating here at such a low altitude? Doubt it. She doesn't know if it was jet or turboprop but it was deafening.

Anybody know of any military ops or large 4 engined aircraft that was operating out of Waterford (30miles away from here) perhaps today? It was heading in a northern direction.

An Irish Air Corps Casa perhaps? It's only a twin it just when you said silvery blue that would be my guess.

As most C-130s are grey in colour I would have guessed it was a CASA also..

A lot of people mistake the CASA for a 4 engined aircraft due to its size and shape, also its a loud bird when operating low level....

How old is the CASA now? Has it ever been upgraded etc?

The Casa entered service in 1994 and last Wednesday Charlie 252 flew its 30,000th hour.

Yeah thats was the very first thing that came to my mind. I questioned her repeatedly about the engines but she sticks by that it had 4 of them. Apparently she took note of that specifically to ask me haha.

Id say its most likely the CASA but id still be interested to know if anybody can confirm for sure.

Edit: And Id be interested to know why a CASA would be flying so extremely low in County Kilkenny of all places anyway!

    http://www.flightradar24.com/

Seems to allow you to go back without subscription. However I doubt that it would show anything operating that low down, rarely seem to see props or turbo-props on it anyway. For instance it doesnt show the regular intercity flights.

I wonder if some of the sites with ATC feeds might tell you something?
