3DS not powering on first time

I got a 3DS on Thursday last. I've noticed that when starting it from cold, it doesn't always power on first go. I press and hold the power button yet nothing happens. I need to press it two or even three times to get it to start. Once I do, if I then power it off it will come back on first time, so it only seems to be if it has been left for a while.

I'm on 2.2 firmware which was installed by Super Mario 3D Land. Did I get a dud?

No it's not a dud that happens with my 3DS, seems to be the way you press the button effects whether it comes on or not... wierd!

Same for me.. seems to be a common issue. Nothing to worry about.

The same thing happens to me, I assume it's to do with holding the button as opposed to pressing it.

Same here, I always thought there was some knack to it or something :o

This happens to me too. It's almost like a reverse PC boot, you have to hold the button down to turn it on.

I thought it might be some safety feature to avoid the console accidentally turning on and wasting the battery.

    Tis annoying though.

Haha was just thinking about this today while on Bus and trying to turn it on. I expect the first press to result in nothing at this stage, very annoying though.
