Cage Warriors is getting in on the tournament action.

Officials from the European promotion today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) they'll soon launch an eight-man, multi-event tournament to determine the organization's middleweight champion.

Many of the participants, including notables Jack Mason (17-9) and Chris Fields (8-3), previously have fought for the promotion.

Other participants, who primarily come from the European fight scene, include Danny Roberts (5-0), Victor Cheng (7-2), Valentino Petrescu (12-2) and Tony Machado (4-0). Two final participants soon will be added, though the confirmed participants already sport a solid combined record of 53-16.

Specific opening-round matchups haven't been determined.

CWFC director Graham Boylan will issue "additional perks and bonuses" for the finalists, and the ultimate winner will be crowned a titleholder. For a promotion that prides itself as a feeder system for top organizations (such as the UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce), the Cage Warriors tournament presents top prospects a major opportunity for international recognition.

The first round of the tournament takes place Feb. 2 (at a location TBA in the Middle East) and Feb. 18 in London. The semifinals take place April 15 in Amman, Jordan, and the tourney finale is slated for July 7 in London.

Additional fights for each card will be announced shortly.

The tourney finalists ultimately will fight three times in five months' time.
