    Hi people.

At c. 10k + on average heatpumps are expensive babies.

    1. What is the expected lifespan?
    2. Is lifespan largely dictated by number of compressor startups?
    3. If so what would an average acceptable number of startup cycles be per day?

    Thanks !!!!!!

A well installed heat pump should last 20yrs or so. That depends on a number of factors. The temp you run too. Running to high temps increases costs and reduces lifespan. Compressor start ups. A compressor is good for about 20,000 starts so the more starts a day the shorter the life.

There shouldn't be really more than 3 to 4 startups per day in winter, ideally running for a number of hours after each start. Summer, you would expect 1-2 starts max.
