Mercedes C180 wiper problem

The wiper on my 2000 Mercedes C180 stopped working yesterday while in use. When the wipers are turned on, there is a buzzing noise, but the wiper won't turn.

When the wiper stopped working it just stopped in the middle - ie not in its resting position. With the wiper still turned on, I shoved it around a bit and it eventually kicked back into life to finish the one swipe to get it into its resting position.

However, it won't move out of this position, unless I again manually force it and then it will complete exactly one swipe.

It would seem to me that this means the fuses arent the problem and that the motor is working to some extent?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

The motors give trouble on them. The plastic gears inside them get stripped. I have replaced a good few.

Had similar trouble on the older model c180. However the removal of the plastic cover at the front of the screen and a squirt of wd40 sorted it out and the wiper continued for another two years :D:D Main dealer had quoted 300 for supply and fit of a new motor
