Christmas / Engagement / House Warming present

So my best friend got engaged last month and is also moving into her first house. I want to get something for herself and her fiance for Christmas this year.

Getting something for them both is tricky so it's probably going to be something house related. Anyone got any ideas of what would be giftish homewares?

I don't want to get them anything purely decorative as everyone's taste is different.

We did the same last year and based on the prezzies we got these were the favorites of both of us.

    - Fancy wooden salad bowl with carved utensils
    - Pictures
    - Fancy mirrors
    - Lamps, always useful we got floor, bed and table
    - Pot and pan set, again fancy possibly Jamie Oliver or something
    - Fancy kitchen knifes set
    - Candle holders
    - Table dressing set
    - Bedding covers, Egyptian cotton
    - Champagne
    - Wine rack & wine

If you have a TK Maxx near you check and see if they have any Le Creuset kitchen ware. Beautiful cassarole dishes and cassoulet pots among other nice bits. They come in lovely colours are built to last a life time. You can get them in department stores as well, but they'll be cheaper in TK Maxx and they always have a good selection when I'm in there.

My mam has a massive pot with lid that she does cassoulet in, goes right into the oven, or or soup it can go on the hop. Looks lovely on the dinner table as well for serving.

Last Xmas I gave a cousin two black candle holders (her sitting room is black/white, so I knew they'd match it).

One year a family member got a set of whiskey glasses and a bottle of whiskey.

Another family member gave a friend a set of black champagne glasses.

We've also given cutlery sets, knife sets.

I agree with Twee, Le Creuset kitchen ware is a very good present.
