Hi guys, came back after the weekend and my coopers heritage with munich wheat yeast was bubbling away at 16 degrees..... but there is a putrid stench of eggs/sulpher emmiting from it, has anyone encountered such a stench with their own in the past, could it be a sign of infection??

Wouldn't have thought so. Anyway, there's nothing you can do about it now. Let it ferment out, bottle it, condition it, taste it, and then decide if anything's wrong with it.

That sounds like a Rhino fart to me. I have only experienced it once with a Coopers Mexican Cerveza kit. It stank out the apartment for 2 days! Don't worry about it though, the brew turned out great and yours will too! ;)

Lager yeasts are terrible for it especially WLP830, proper hydrogen sulphide!

Emmm... could we have a list of items which cause this as I keep my fermentor in the bedroom and I don't think it would go down well if it smelt like that!

far as i know its mostly down to yeast strain. Hefeweizen or some ale yeasts i find smell quite alright during fermentation, its the lager ones i fine give the rotten eggs/sulphur hum

smell has died down now thank God. I was using the Munich Wheat lager yeast.
