The Rumble winner 2012?

With the rumble only two months away I have been racking my brain tryin to think who could possibly win it with todays roster.....they could go for the tried and tested main eventers such as orton, del Rio, punk, and eh I dunno who else really trips? But in fairness most have all ready won it (i am aware WWE aren't shy on having superstars rewinning it) and punk may still be the champ ,cena is also occupied,so who realistically could win?

Show in my opionion doesn't have a chance , Henry either, and d bry has mitb to possibly to look forward to, someone like the miz could do it but his last mania main event imo was a shambles.......

Also last year a heel won, and a mid card one at that. If this were to happen there are only two viable mid card heels who could do it and both are recieving pushes, dolph and barrett. In fairness I doubt this would go down to well, but personally a good showing from ziggler would be great ala Mr.perfect in the 90 rumble (think waS 1990 anyway) .a returning kane may also be a option as they never gave him a rumble victory but with his return imminent it may serve as a good impact statement.

After much deliberation on the topic ( with myself , I know sounds weird) the best possible option would be to haVe a face win it....now WWE are short on top card faces , hence r truths supposed turn....but right now I believe the only superstar at the moment who is in line to return to the top is wwwyki the one and only Zak ryder

....no seriously though it would have to.be our very own Celtic warrior, shemus! He has been having excellent matches and seems to be recieving a sustained push.....a rumble win and mania title match may prove to do wonders in cementing him as a top guy ala batista. What do WWE have to lose anyway, the ppv will basically be sold on the rock cena angle, so I think its time to pull the trigger, properly on the great white....so my final verdict is shemus to go on and be crowned 2012 rumble winner....

So thoughts?who would you like to win or can see winning?

Sheamus to win. he is on a massive roll at the moment, and the crowd love him.

In terms of main event potential for Mania, I'd love to see Ziggler vs Punk. From a pure wrestling, show stealing stand point, I think those two would put on a fantastic match up.

I'd say Sheamus or Ziggler and i am leaning toward Zig! The push he is getting at the moment is elevating hinm and last night on raw he
    beat randy orton
i think it has all the hall marks of a future winner!

we know from z!tlis that he does have serious mic skills if they would only let him run with it and stop stupidly scripting him!

"ZigZag man" is getting a decent push but he's still being pinned a fair bit by Ryder and by Punk recently. Whereas Sheamus has been pinned once in about three or four months I'd say and is getting seriously protected. They must have something big in mind for him and the Rumble could be the start of it.

Zig is a heel though....he can't be winning clean the whole time and losing to punk is no big deal, he has been utterly fantastic though, his matches have been a highlight of WWE recently...has come along way since considering rey wouldn't drop the ic title to him a few years back .... Thought kenny waS meant to be the beakout cheer leader

Come to think about it what has the rest of the spirit squad been doin anyone know

Kenny is buzzing round the Indys and wrestled a dark match against Justin Gabriel on Smackdown two weeks ago.

Johnny is doing an Accountancy: Information Systems degree at California State University, Northridge

    Nick is doing Torrie Wilson.

Mikey is apparently a trainer and wrestler in OVW

    My money is on Ziggler.
(like everyone else too, it seems)

Ziggles has been great of late and he will be champ again some time, no doubt. Just got a feeling for Sheamo this year.

Its a tough one to call this year.

Rock and Cena are supposed to be fighting for the title at Mania, so it seems like it could/should be someone from the Smackdown roster.

    Most likely Taker.

Miz to win and challenge Punk at Mania.

I'm going with a babyface to win and challenge Mark Henry for the title.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Heel: Dolph Ziggler (pulls double duty again and drops the US title to ryder thanks to Punk)

Face: Sheamus (SDs main event or if there is a creative swerve vs Taker for the streak... or both)

Dark Horse: Daniel Bryan (The Underdogs story for the Rumble and a man who will deliver a top match even if his title match doesent get top billing due to Rock/Cena... would also open up the potential for him to not challenge his own champ and instead give us Punk vs Bryan!)

This sounds very good - I think Shambo vs Henry at Mania; the guy to finally topple Henry of the SmackDown title. Also, the Rumble winner isn't that important - sure Del Rio won it last year and curtain jerked Mania!

It was mentioned on the law that 'what if' scenario - what if the winner of the rumble can choose any match at Mania he wants? - and if the winner picked The Undertaker as his WM opponent. That'd be pretty cool, although it admits that their titles ain't worth a damn compared to the legit biggest prize in wrestling, Taker's WM streak.

Sheamus to win it! He's really over as a face now and a credible threat to any champion!

I love to see Christian or Jericho win

Sheamus, Barrett or Ziggler........ or if anyone has seen the poster for the rumble... SANTINO:D

Sheamus, though I'm hoping Kane is in it to eliminate a few more, and takes over the most eliminated in total record :D

My prediction is for Kane to win it, D Bry to also claim he has a title shot with his briefcase, setting up a triple threat at Mania.
But then on the night of WM, DB cashes in on the Intercontinental Champion, leaving Kane vs the champ (hopefully Big Show)

Drew McIntyre imo, after seeing his match on the last european tour in Dublin, he has beefed up something shocking, the man is huge now and I think he will get it

    Your half right!

New WWE game needs updating, Drew looks tiny when in fact he's huge.

I thought Punk would win the rumble after a period where the interim GM screwed him out of title shots and made his life hell. Then he went and won the Championship at Survivor Series.

I hope Ziggler wins, always been a big fan since he appeared on Smackdown after his intial hand shake gig and faced MVP.

Orton to go on and challenge Del Rio.

Sheamus will be a major contender if he's not in a title match.

Ehhhhh Santino is missing from the poll. :)

    Wouldn't mind Sheamus,Ziggler or Danielson.

Would be kind of epic if Danielson cashed in his MITB on Henry at the Rumble but lost, then enters the Rumble at #1 and wins and goes on to Mania and faces Punk!

Its Randy Orton for me :pac: Not that I'm a fan or anything. In fact, I can't stand him. But I remember around the time he moved to Smackdown. The thinking was, that he only agreed due to the fact they planned to build the brand around him... If thats the case, I couldn't see him being happy @ not being involved in Smackdown's, Wrestlemania main event..

Would love a Sheamus or Ziggler win tho :D

Zack Ryder to get ripped in the next 6 weeks and kick ass at the Rumble,Woo,Woo,Woo, I wish it.

I'm seriously thinking it's gonna be Ziggler. He's definetly the most improved in the ring this year. his promo's are getting better and him doing double duty on PPV lately could be a testing ground for him to step up to main event level

    Ziggler v Punk?
    Ziggler v Daniel Bryan?

Either of those (potential) scenarios sound great.

Jericho to finally win the rumble if it is indeed him returning?

I'm leaning toward Jericho winning and going after Punk at the minute.

Would Taker go on to have a Championship match at WM though?

I've a feeling Orton will take it. He's not been champion in ages :pac:

It was in the Wrestling Observer a while ago at this stage that Orton is the favourite to win. But Dave made the joke that will be the case until Vince finds out that the event takes place in Orton's hometown. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,608 ✭✭✭irish_stevo815

Just coz Orton's not in the title picture now, it doesn't mean he will necessarily win the rumble. He could still be put on programm for the title in around the Rumble or even win the title in Elimination Chamber and face the winner of the Rumble - Barrett/Seamus for example.

But if Daniel Bryan is still gonna hold off til Mania to cash in MITB, then it will possibly be a Raw Superstar that wins the rumble.

Jericho v Punk would be awesome alright. And plus, things may seem to be going one way towards Mania now, but dont forget, about this time last year, everyone was convinved that Punk would be building a feud with Cena for the WWE title at Mania, and look how that changed.

Can't see it being Taker that the videos are about (not if I have broken the code properly :pac:). Although *if* it was him, then I wouldn't imagine he would be in the Rumble. Although it would be a way of doing something different with him this year.
