Durban round of Climate Change Conference

Is anyone else following the Durban round of Climate Change Conference?

The EU has said that it will not sigh up to revive Kyoto unless China and the USA sign up.

China says it won’t sign up until all developed nations signed a second Kyoto term.

The USA says a “basic requirement” for its own “participation” was for China to sign up.

Canada has said it will not sign up to a second Kyoto term, and it seems Canada is set to withdraw from the protocol completely in 2012.

It seems the EU is at odds with the UK, which is said to be backing a plan by Canada to extract oil from swampland, which the EU is against.

The EU spokesman, the wonderfully named Artur Runge-Metzger, said the public risks losing confidence in this “travelling circus”.

    What’s gone wrong?
