Hi will be buying a used car year 2000 - 2001 private or dealer does not matter, anyway have been going mad for the past few days going back and forth between Toyota Corolla 1.4 vvti or Mazda 323 1.5.
Have been reading a lot online about the Toyota the burning oil thing keeps popping up and it kind of puts me off but then again they are a nice car and read they also reliable despite the oil thing.

Having read online about the Mazda have not really read any bad reviews about the car i have mentioned in fact i saw a 2000 one with nct till next year 115.000 miles 2 owners etc and looks like a good car but should i be put off by the high mileage?

Sorry for going on and on but just stuck between the two and advice would be helpful.
    Thank you.

The Mazda will burn it's share of oil too.
The 1.6 engine is worth getting over the 1.5 (it also burns oil by the way)

Worth noting that the 1.4 in the corolla is more powerful than the 1.6 in the Mazda, but the Mazda is livelier (probably lighter)

Thatm much depends on condition of those two but if comparable then i'd go for teh corolla

I'd go for the Mazda! Personal choice. Too many thicks with fart can exhausts on Corollas.
Can't say I ever came across an Innsbruck model, LX or GLX is the usual trim.
If it's this one, it badly needs alloys or better hubcaps (I've a set of genuine Mazda actually ;) ) but it looks well minded.

1.5 were usually GLX so would probably have 2-4 airbags, 4 electric windows and electric sunroof, and ABS.
That mileage would average or low average for the year. Check when the timing belt is due next.

That petrol station looks familiar, but I don't see any other ads coming up for that phone number.

Ive had x2 323F's with the 1.5 Lump in them, And id call them pretty much bullet proof. And they will go and go and go if given some care and attention. But they can take alot of abuse too.

Id have no issue recommending one to anyone. Based on condition obviously ;)

At that age it's all about the actual car sitting in front of you. Forget the badge, and buy on condition.

ye langdang thats the one i was looking at ye looks in good condition, do you reckon thats near the city?

I might also add that from next year ill be doing a far bit of driving prob 60-70 miles a day so which one do you think would handle that kind of hard driving?

I just want something reliable thats not going to leave me by the side of the road and that if something does go wrong its not going to cost me a fortune to repair.

My last car was a corsa i know it doesnt compare, but i hated that car was afraid to drive it long distance though it would blow up so many things went wrong with it, so i just want to get it right this time round and it is horrible to drive.

The 1.5 glx usually has 2 airbags, sunroof, abs, 4 electric windows

1.6 glx adds aircon instead of sunroof (roof can also be added) side bags, front Fogs, cd with remote and traction control, it also has remote locking.
