    Can anyone tell me about commercial vehicle insurance.
    I'm trading in a car for a commercial 4x4 jeep Mitsubishi L200 Double Cab 2.5 .

    But can I transfer my car private insurance to the jeep without getting commercial insurance .

    Are you a commercial user? Are you going to use the jeep as a part of a business or is it just for transport?

    It depends on the county , but broadly speaking if you have commercial tax you will have to take commercial insurance.
    Most insurance companies ask if it is privately taxed or commercially taxed IME.

    I was able to transfer my no claims bonus over, but if your private motor policy covered you to drive other cars that will no longer be possible with a commercial policy. I remember hearing of people having issues with commercial tax and insurance on crew cabs but don't have any personal experience on that.

    But can I transfer my private insurance to the jeep without getting commercial insurance .

    I renewed my commercial insurance this morning and I have got driving other cars cover as part of my policy

    Why don't you ring your insurer and ask them? That would be the correct way to go about it no? For something like Insurance having everything above board would be sensible otherwise you could find yourself in a world of hassle if anything happened.

    What Insurer are you with? Are you sure its not other commercial vehicles only?
