Dodgy website when applying for Driving Test

something I picked up on today with a conversation with a few people:

When people search on Google for 'booking driving test', the first search hit is a website called Book-driving-test.com. This website is based in the UK and books driving tests for people in the UK and Ireland. When filling in the information, they look for the usual info, name, address, Driving licence number, PPS number etc. They then charge a total of €102 for the test and some people have paid this.
The test costs about €82/€85 and the guys then use another credit card and got to the RSA website and book the test for you and pocket the difference. So they are charging a booking fee which is not explained to the buyer before they make their purchase.
So people wanting to book their test online, go to the RSA website, as when you enter your driving licence and PPS numbers, they are compared with the national databases and if correct, the user can proceed and book their test.

But if someone uses Book-driving-test.com and enters an incorrect driving licence or PPS number, the person on the other end will then in-turn enter the same details on the RSA website, which will be rejected by the RSA website and they will be unable to book the test and possibly pocket the €102 euro, and they have your personal details.

So, it's a case of Buyer beware!

In all fairness if you go to book your Irish driving test on a .co.uk website and give your credit card details willingly then they had it coming.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

exactly what I said. but it's .com and not .co.uk, although they have a sister website that's .co.uk.

I'm just quite shocked that the test costs €82/€85. I thought I paid thirty-something back in 2009. Could be wrong.

A lot of people are getting stung be this. There has alredy been a thread. People often don't read past the first line.
The correct ways to get there are:
    www.rsa.ie or more direct is
    www.drivingtest.ie or the link through
    www.adidriving.ie
PS. Yes, the test used to be 35 euro. It now costs 85.

At this rate it'll be €100 in 2012. Really is becoming an expensive habit to take to the road these days.
