I have a few old chairs with little plaques under them with JV Bowden & Co., Little Denmark Street, Dublin printed on them. Anyone know when this company operated? No room for the chairs anymore so moving them on.

I have chairs with similar plaques from the early 1900's..yours could have the same sort of date.

Just googled the name and the following gravestone in glasnevin mentions a JV Bowden from Dublin who died in 1928
    No.958
In | Loving Memory | of our dear son | JOHN VALENTINE (JACK) BOWDEN | Late of
    27 Pearse Square, Dublin | died April 26th 1928 | aged 27 years | Interred in
Calvary Cemetery Brooklyn, U.S.A. | also our beloved grandchild | KATHLEEN

BOWDEN | father of the above named J.V.BOWDEN | died 14th Aug. 1939, aged 64
    yrs. | and his grandson | ALBERT GALLAGHER | died 19th Sept. 1931, aged 5yrs. |
Also | Mrs. ELEANOR GALLAGHER | (formerly BOWDEN) | died 15th Dec. 1950, aged

Philips B3 IF90U Merrion AC/DC table top valve radio housed in brown Bakelite case.Long, medium and short wavebands plus pickup selected by four pushbuttons. Valve line up:UCH81, UF89, UBC81, UL84 and UY42. The radio as received had no visible model number but did have a label indicating that it was originally supplied by JV Bowden and Co Ltd of Boyne Street, Dublin. There was also a large faded label on the perforated back indicating that the radio was the property of some other company and a paper label with a serial number had been glued over the original Philips identification label on the chassis. When this was soaked off I discovered its true identity - model B3 IF90U. This is a model B3 X90U manufactured in Ireland. For an explanation of the Philips manufacturing codes see: Gerard's radio corner The IF stands for 'Irish Free State'.
    Now working. Eire 1959/60
However there was a company making radios at least untill 1959 with that name.

Little Denmark St. was off Parnell St. (formerly Great Britain St.) on the Henry St. side, it disappeared as part of the development of the ILAC Centre in the late 70s. It was the site of the 2RN studio, the radio station which later became Radio Eireann. It was based in Little Denmark St. until 1928 when the studio moved to the GPO.

Little Denmark St. is marked simply as 'Denmark' St' on this map but you can find Great Denmark St. off Parnell Sq. where it still exists today.
