So this is for my Christmas party (we're postagraduate students in case you were wondering why it's so casual). So I'm going to wear black tights and black sparkly full toe shoes but I'm a bit stuck with accessories. I usually wear very little jewelry so I'm not sure if I should go with long beads, long earrings, bracelet, ring, watch. Would be looking at all my accessories in black just so you know. Would you put a belt or ribbon on either?

Personally, I hate the way some people INSIST on slapping a big belt on a dress or top at every opportunity but that's just my opinion. What I would do is get a big bangle (or a set of smaller ones) and rings with a mainly black theme. I would also get sparkly earrings or maybe a nice hairband and no necklace and paint your nails. River Island/Topshop/Warehouse/Oasis/Wallis/Dunnes/Penneys all do costume jewellry that is not dear and generally looks good. Maybe get a nice handbag too? Hope this helps.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that dress is casual at all. I was looking at the top version of it before, think it's really pretty. The dress itself has a metallic look to it, so I wouldn't got nuts with sparkly jewellery. The hairband idea is good, would you wear something like that? If not, then maybe go for a drop earring - I wouldn't do the two as it may look OTT. Mixing coloured bangles, black and gold would also look lovely. You'll know yourself what looks best on. Do as Chanel said, Always take off the last accessory you put on. Or something like that! :D

I would pick one key black piece of jewellery - either black drop earrings, or a simple set of black beads, keeping away from too much sparkle. Then painted nails and a bangle or something.

personally i have a rule that if the top has ahigh neck i wear my hair up with large ear rings, for events.. also i would keep the accessories other than the earrings simple as you have sparkle shoes and dress, maybe one statement black bangle or an oversized statement ring.. if you a re near Dublin you should try forever 21 for inexpensive items.. if you decide not to wear large earrings you could go for a blair waldorf from gossip girl inspired hair with an up do and a hair band.. i think the dress is lovely so it does not need the extra detailing of a necklace :)

also if you do want to define your waist wear some sort of think belt but i wouldn't with this look

Hey thanks a million everyone. I'm not going to go for a belt I was just wondering if other people thought it was a good idea. I like the bangles idea esp. integrating gold and black only problem is I've incredible small hands and can't wear bangles cos they just fall off. Weird I know and very annoying cos bangles are so nice! I can only ever wear those stretchy kind of bracelets. I already have a costume type of ring and black drop earrings. Think that would be enough? I have a black watch as well and I'll paint my nails - forgot about that! As for hair I actually have short shoulder length hair that just about goes into a ponytail so putting it up is going to be hard unless I go get it done but that costs money and I'm a postgrad with none! I was thinking of curling my hair though which would make it shorter. Then I could put a hairband on to pull it back a bit and so you could see the earrings? Would you go for a thick or thin hairband? Also what colour bearing in mind that I have very dark brown hair!

Oh and I just meant that the dress is casual in it's shape (at least for my body shape) and it quite short so it's not really a fancy dinner type dress but more of a going out type of dress!

Personally I'd go for gold accessories, something like these
