Could anyone tell me where I could find a model train that looks like the Dublin DART?

If there is not a train that is exactly the same are there any alternatives that look similar?

Looks good. Would a train afficionado classify that train as a DART? It looks close enough to my eye, but I'm trying to track down the train for someone who really knows their stuff.

IIFC they never produced an exact replica of the DART, you had to modify and respray a UK or German model. But I'm open to correction on that one.

no, nothing like a DART, wrong colour, shape, size, fuel source (diesel vs electric) etc.

The above is a UK class 158 repainted to represent a 2700 class DMU
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IE_2700_and_2750_Classes
but in reality there are still quite a few differences.

there's no one on there that does DARTs, I'm active on that site and despite several people asking no one has ever produced one. I have however seen a homemade one many many years ago at a show in Gorey

OP There are no options for model DARTs out there, you'd have to make your own, there are no models even remotely close enough to turn into one. Also there are 5 separate classes of electrical multiple unit (EMU) that run in DART branding, all look distinctly different. (strictly speaking only 4 as the 5th type are not in use)

The 8100s are the original but at the bottom of the page you can see the other types linked, all 8XXX series
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CI%C3%89_8100_Class

You can however source several types of Irish locomotive, 141, 181 and 201 classes are all newly produced and available, as are some of the carriages they ran with, cravens and mk2s.

    141/181: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIE_141_Class (visual almost identical)
    201: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IE_201_Class

    Craven coach: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coaching_stock_of_Ireland#Cravens_Stock_.28now_withdrawn.29
    Mk2 coach: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coaching_stock_of_Ireland#Mark_2_.28now_withdrawn.29

There are also kits available for several other types and manufacturer made other type that have been out of stock for a while but are available second hand...

irishrailwaymodeller.yuku.com is a good place as mentioned
themodelshop.ie and modelshopbelfast.co.uk both stock Irish stuff and are your best source for new items.
adverts.ie has a reasonable amount of Irish stuff on it at the moment also.

Many moons ago you could buy a DART model in Mark's Models but if I recall correctly it was a home built/respray model that was made by someone and just sold through the shop, never a production model or made in great numbers

Nice if basic, certainly needs some weathering to tone the colours down a bit.

However it would want to be very keenly priced considering the lack of detail, here's hoping.
