Solar Heating in Garage.

I have a few questions that someoone might be able to help me on.

Im looking at putting solar tubes on garage to heat a storage tank in the garage.

This it turn will assist my boiler to heat the water for the Rads and cylinder in the house and in summer as the rads are not on would suffice to heat the water.

I understand that it would be better to heat the water only from the solar but its not possible to run more pipes to the house or mount the panels on the house.

    The questions I have are

Will the tank loose heat in the garage faster due to it being cold in winter or is it insulated enough not to loose temp quicker depending on external temp.

In general what temp would the water in storage tank get to in summer or winter.

What would be the general rate of cooling of water in tank from when sun goes to when the water is needed.

Any advice would be appreciated. If there are issues with any of my ideas above Id appreciate an explaination as Im new to this.

    Thanks
    D

    1. yes
    2. ? quicker than what ?
    3. 60-70, then you start to consider heat dump
    4. ? when is the water needed ?
    5. I can recommend a heating specialist, as can some other posters here, I think you would benefit from their help
    best of luck;)

I have a homemade system like this combined with a wood boiler (homemade).

I've never had any problems with loose heat.

The most important thing is insulation, all pipes will need the extra thick pipe insulation to avoid losing heat the same is true of the pipes that lead back to the house. Avoid an over long pipe run otherwise you'll find that the water in the pipes will be cool the cylinder in the house before the hot comes thorough from the garage.
