Nintendo Stars Catalog

Is there anything on the uk catalog that can give me credit on the 3DS eshop? The point cards only apply to the wii and dsi.

Is it just me or is the uk catalog sh*t compared to the US one? Take away all the wallpapers (why would you ever pay for a wallpaper? Google images is free, people!) and ringtones and you are left with crazy expensive stickers and figurines. The only thing in anyway tempting on the uk catalog is the classic controller, or maybe one of teh bags, but are are mad prices (7000 points? I only got 750 for a 3ds!) The us has shoe laces, a t-shirt and posters. And I hope that the US one is just using a different scale to the uk one, and that something that costs 7500 points on the uk isn't only 1200 in the us.

In short, yes it's crap for the EU. The japanese one is awesome.

In terms of prices, bear in mind that if you're a long-term fan you would have been around in the days when you could earn 5 points a day (or was it 10? It's ages ago...) just for visiting the site, and some of those rewards (the link statue, the snes controller etc.) are intended I think to reward the fans who've been in the family for a long time. I'm not a rabid fan or anything but since the gamecube got released I've racked up over 16,000 stars one way or another. Most of which I blew on the sh***y star point-to-wii points conversion.

eShop is money only, which is a pain 'cause I've got a 3000 DSi/WiiPoints card that I'm never going to use now... unless I can get Rockband 3 working and then go mad with the DLC...

All of Nintendo's stuff seems heavily region-biased, to me (and probably many others).
90% of Pokémon events are Japan-only, while they get a new one pretty much every week..
Supposedly there are competitions in Japan where you win 3DSes, in the US they get .. stickers.
There's supporting the country you're based in .. and then there's this. Madness, I tells ya!

Uh, the American one is even worse.
The only perk to the American one is that if you buy a lot of first party stuff, you get a "platinum" reward once a year.
The European one has a lot more content, and is only a slight bit more expensive.

There are no eShop cards on club Nintendo.

if you have a dsi or access to one you could buy stuff on the dsi shop then transfer to a 3ds....Or do likewise with the wii + wii u when it comes out. (presuming there'll be a similar transfer process)

Whats the platinum award like? Bonus points and stickers?
The EU might get more content, but most of it is stickers.

I know. I had been planning to get the cards on the catalog because I thought they were usable on the 3ds, but now there is nothing on it for me, as I dont have a Wii.

The EU has pretty decent rewards like a snes classic controller, wii remote holder, ds cases, frizbee's etc.

The US platinum award last year was mario pin badges.

The US has the remote holder, as well as the case. The snes controller is 7000 points (the equivalent of 28 games @250 points each). Although tbh, it starting to look like both clubs are as sh*t as each other.

    They are both terrible.
The Japanese one is pretty good though.

Well, i've never bothered registering my points before - figured it was a waste of time - but i do like the look of that classis controller. Have stacks of points dating back to gamecube, but it seems some of them have expiry dates. The twilight princess i got on wii release day registers fine, but phantom hourglass and links crossbow training have expired. It does say it on the points scratchcard yokey, so i guess it's my fault. Bit of a pain in the face, though. And so, incidentally, is the questionnaire you have to do each time you register a game. Will be nice to get something for free though.

Anyone know what games you get points with? Got some with mercs 3d, but not resi 4 on wii.

Also got some with umbrella chronicles, but not darkside chronicles??

Thanks to anyone who can explain this.

The Japanese Club Nintendo store is getting more cool stuff. I wish the polo shirts could come to the European site.

Up until the 3DS you only got points with first party games. When they released the 3DS they extended this to all games, including third-party games.

The Zelda statue that I've been saving up for hgas seemingly disappeared in the last couple of weeks. Sucks really badly, as I'd just reached the required points total...

In my opinion, the European site is better than the US site. Although the annual reward does seem appealing.

Also, for anyone who thinks we're being overcharged:
40 US coins = 250 European stars. For example the European Wii came with 1000 stars, while the US Wii came with 160 coins.

What I dislike about the Stars is that they only last so long. So unless you save up all your cards and register them all at once, there's a pretty good chance your stars will disappear before you can save up a significant amount.

do you not get a year from when you register them? I managed to get the zelda statue a couple of months back after registering a load of friends games and with help trading points with robman60 above ..

    put in BT11 AA

Then when it says invalid click the box that says turn off address checking. then fill in the correct address.. i think thats what i done.

I'm someone who just buys games on occasion. Like I got the 3DS, and 3 games at Christmas and Okamiden last week, and that's all i've bought this year so far. So best thing for me to do is just hold on to them until I have enough for something I want. Though I had to register Mario Kart and Mario 3D Land to get the free Kid Icarus.

But that statue looked cool so fair play to you.

Cheers Keith. You actually have to enter it BT1 1AA and then I just turned off the auto address thing and left the postcode blank. Worked a treat.
