    Hi,

Hopefully somebody will be able to shed some light on this.

A while back, I tried to buy a book for the Kindle called The Inferior. It's by an Irish author, and I'm in Ireland trying to buy it via Amazon.com. I have a Kindle that was bought in Ireland, from the US store, but which is registered to my Irish address.

I googled "kindle the inferior" (no quotes) and got this page, which says it's not available in Europe:

    http://www.amazon.com/The-Inferior-ebook/dp/B001AWZ1QA

So, confused as to an Irish novel wasn't available in Ireland, I contacted the author and he sent me a different link, through which I was able to buy the book:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041OT9AS/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

So why are there two different pages to buy it, and why can't I find the correct page in a search?

I mention this because a friend tried to buy a Pern book for Kindle, and although it was written in Ireland and is hugely popular, was told it wasn't available. I tried it myself, googling "kindle dragonflight" (no quotes), and I got a similiar page:

    http://www.amazon.com/Dragonflight-Dragonriders-Pern-ebook/dp/B000FBFOCI

Has anybody else had this problem with their Kindle? Is there a workaround that I am missing? :/

I imagine the problem is you found the page through google? You don't need to google ''Kindle Inferior'' to find the book. You just go to the Kindle store:

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-text&field-keywords=&x=13&y=21

And type in the title. It brought me straight to the one that's available when I did this. Sometimes it will tell you it's not available but if you look under the ''formats'' thing there is often a link to the edition that is available. Though sometimes the books just aren't available for Europe- as appears to be the case with Dragonflight. There are restrictions on some books.
So why are there two different pages to buy it

Just different editions released for different countries.

So, basically, when you're buying a Kindle book:

    1) Go to the Kindle Store on Amazon.com
    2) Type in the title of the book.
    3) If you get too many results, type in the authors name too to narrow it down.
    4) Click on the book you want
    5) If it's available to buy then that's that.
    6) If it's unavailable, check under Formats. The box that has hardback, paperback, audiobook etc. Sometimes it says Kindle and a link to another edition. If you click on that other edition it will bring you to one that you can buy.
    7) If there is no link to another edition, then you just can't buy it from Ireland. This sucks but it's not really Amazons fault, it's the publishers. They are working on getting more available to Europe all the time though.

Some people do use fake US addresses etc to buy the books unavailable to Ireland but it's a bit messy and they might catch you and stop you...
