Some might remember that some time back there was a thread on here about the councillor when it was revealed that he had been claiming travel expenses for a car that was not even on the road.

At that time he claimed €1,700 for mileage expenses for that car.

The front page of today's Leader shows that he has since paid back another €2,600 to a number of publicly funded bodies as he had claimed further mileage expenses for the same car that was off the road.

Originally he claimed that the €1,700 in travel expenses had been claimed in error and that he paid it back as soon as he realised he had made the miustake of claiming travel expenses for a car that was not even driving on the road (how one does not realise that they are looking for money for something like that without knowing it is beyond me). But the further finding that he has been claiming other expenses and using the same vehicle details in doing so really does boggle the mind.

We have a city council that seems to be always talking about how little money it has, so I wonder how much by way of funds are taken by mistakes made by councillors etc each year?

wake up and smell the morning coffee, snouts in the trough do not steal, they just make mistakes which may or may not be rectified.
