    Hi,
I will some be upgrading to a new phone (hopefully :-)) and I assume when I log in to the new one all my contacts and apps will be downloaded to it, but does anyone know if I have to uninstall them from my old phone first? Esp if i'm giving that phone to someone else to use (they'll use it with their own Gmail log in).

If you're currently using an android phone at the moment yeah they'll all be there when you log in with your google account. You can check on gmail web client just to be sure. When you're giving the phone away you can just restore it to factory defaults so nothing of yours will be left behind. :)

    Cool :-)

Would restoring it to factory default undo any os updates that have been applied to the phone (nexus 1)?

You dont need to uninstall them or anything. I use the same Gmail across 3 devices and i can re download apps on each one of them.

If theres a G letter beside your contacts it should meant that their backed up.

Best way to do it is to export all contacts onto msd card. Delete all contacts and then import them. When your importing them it will ask you weather you want to import them to the phone or your google account.

Or just go into display options and turn off phone and sim contacts and see what comes up :) then you will know whats on gmail and whats not.
