Low idle under 500rpm

I have a 1.3 01 mitsubishi lancer and it gives a low idle from cold start under 500rpm and will cut out, it will also cut out if driving up to traffic lights or roundabout where i need to use the clutch to brake. The car will idle normally when fully warmed up, any ideas what the problem could be?
