PPS Number, what's on it?

Well I'll throw this up here, After hours will have to do I guess :rolleyes:
What shows up when someone punches in the old PPS number in on the computer? Can my medical records be accessed on it? What about the dole office when they go peeking in, what can they see?

I be wondering what they be thinking about me looking down at the screen and back up at me again

Always be careful with anything that has your PPS number on it.
In fact, be careful of any documentation you get with PPS, Bank Account Details, DOB etc.

Many people stupidly throw old documents out in the garbage. All it takes is someone bad enough to root around in it. Get your info. Then you got problems.

As mad as it sounds. Burn old documents.

Dont quote me, but a few years ago I heard that all it takes for any individual to get a long birthcert of you is to know your full name , dob and mothers maiden name. All can be found on certain documents you receive.

Seriously doubt that. Unless things have changed drastically in the last decade the health services in Ireland are really not "joined up" at all. If youve been to more than one doctor in your lifetime you may not even have all your "medical records" held in the one place.

Even then I suspect that much of this may be only applicable to people below a certain age as the various agencies may not have been particularly meticulous at record keeping back in the day.

Not mad at all, especially if you recycle paper, I used to work in a recycling centre and the amount of old passports and bills that would come through was ridiculous, there will be people handling that and you don't know how honest they are.

That's what I thought, but it's fairly standard, the majority of what people put in those bins is stuff that shouldn't be there, bills/statements etc are fine if you shred them just not tossed into the bin as they came out of the envelope.
