5th iPod with white screen

    Hi all,
    I have a 30GB 5th generation iPod. I have had it for a good few years at this stage without any hassle. For the last 3 years it just sits in my car plugged in playing music. However, over the last white it the screen seems to be white each time I look at it, the first few times turning it off and back on fixed the issue, then when that didn't work, resetting the iPod seemed to help, but now nothing helps. The screen is totally white and I can't get a display on it again.
    Any idea on what can be done? Any guides online on how to fix it myself (wouldn't be the best with fixing electronic items, but I would possibly give it a go).
    Would I be better off just buying another one off eBay? Battery life doesn't bother me really as it is always plugged into the stereo so it's always charging. So I was thinking maybe an older one off eBay would do me. However, if it was easier/cheaper/free to fix it would be much better!
