Maybe. It depends on the conversion rate and/or charges of your bank/credit card company.

Zavvi, the Hut, Sendit, Play, Tesco, Asda, HMV online are all based in the Channel Islands.

The Channel Islands are a Crown Protectorate and are not part of the EU or the U.K. Anything over £18/€22 ordered from any of those companies is liable for Import Duty, VAT and the Carrier's handling fee.

In this economy, that PS3 is definitely going to be hit for charges on delivery. Better off going for one of HMV Grafton Street's €289 deal.

Regularly use those websites and never been hit with any additional charges.

This is confusing as it really does not make total sense for them to use the words that are used in this.

    5. Goods purchased for Personal Use over the Internet or from mail order catalogues from Gibraltar, the Canary Islands or the Channel Islands

Goods ordered by a private individual, over the Internet or from a mail order catalogue, from Gibraltar, the Canary Islands or the Channel Islands are not liable to Customs Duty, irrespective of value. However, such goods are liable to VAT at importation at the same rate as applies to the sale within Ireland of similar goods if their value exceeds €22.00.

Excise Duty is payable on alcohol and tobacco products and must be paid before the goods arrive in Ireland.

Looks like it was simply added to the condition.

Are we 100% sure anything imported over 22 euro is supposed to be duty'd?

AFAIK its 21% VAT charged but not customs.
