    Found this:
http://www.thinksafetydrivesafely.com/index.html website in my endeavours to become the safest motorist in the country, and continue saving lives.;)

Why in Gods name would anyone bother basically "lifting" everything there from the RSA's website and re-publishing it (with credits)??

We have enough road safety preachers out there already.....................

Tbh I think there is an actual need for a proper version of the RSA, not funded by the government (to start) and not with complete idiots running it. That actually give proper advice about road safety and issues, not make stupid adverts wasting millions of revenue.

Can't say this is it, though!

Firstly this website was created by a student, who is a 17 year old driver, this is a particularly high risk age group on the road, he was bothered to take the time to build this website for a leaving certificate project for which he won Young Road Safety Ambassador of the year, instead of making critical comments about this website, why not do something worthwhile yourself????? http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/students-are-leading-lights-in-road-safety-170649.html

    Are you the student?

I've no problem if you are, good effort :)

No i'm not but I am a friend of his and I think people are too critical of ideas like this one, these are the people who dont bother doing anything worthwhile themselves and look for faults in other people work. That is all I have to say on the matter.

So the OP isn't allowed an opinion because you don't like it?

Excellent contribution! What exactly is your point? The poster was just explaining the origins of the site. I for one, having read the origin of the site, would look at it favourably rather than critically. The OP is of course entitled to their opinion. Others are also equally entitled

Seeing as the OP clearly doesn't think its worthwhile, this comment makes very little sense.

Eh, he resurrected a dead thread that was quite happily sinking to the bottom of the Motors ocean. What does digging it back up achieve?

The way the RSA have changed how people learn to drive, these new regulations should affect everyone at some stage in their lives. It's not fair that just learners get stung.

    Different point entirely

I thinks it's a good site, it's very visual which I think will help get the message across (to those who view it) a lot better than trawling through pages of text. The site address and the homepage hits you with safety messages, the RSA homepage is basically a menu.

Ps just noticed that speedometer is clocked in mg/h, nice double meaning?

It's total ****e to be honest and to be patronizing young people by saying that this is in any way useful is counter priductuve. Seriously, what do thoughtless moronic statements like "Arrive alive!" even mean? How about some truly useful advice taken fron the ROTR advising the responsibilities involved when driving. There's lots of good safety advice that is simply forgotten in the rush to make everyone wear a yellow vest and "slow down". Road safety while not diffucult is certainly not so simplistic as well meaning incompetents like the RSA and this young man would have you think.

You could run it through spell check. When people are met with spelling errors they generally move on and don't finish their viewing of a site.

You're section on speed limits is not entirely correct.

The NRA can vary the speed limits on both motorways and national routes as they see fit. Certain motorways only have a 100kph limit and certain dual carriageways have a 120kph limit.

A similar situation exists with regional and local roads with local authorities have the power to put through bye laws to vary the limits on these routes. A number of Regional Roads, such as the R639 has a 100kph limit.

Must say though, for a school project the site is well laid out and user friendly. Nice effort.

    OK its a pretty site.

And I'm relieved it wasnt put together by some weird adult road safety zealot in their own time, but your school should be encouraging originality and not jumping on boring and safe bandwagons regardless of crediting the source material to avoid plagiarism.

Its not/was not apparent from the site that it was part of a school venture, had it been I would have not bothered posting about it, because as an exercise in website building/hosting it does what it is supposed to do.

But road safety campaigns are always going to be a lazy and safe bet for schools, as they are something that they are never going to receive any criticism for covering, and they are unlikely to launch a challenging website about gay rights or reforms in the public sector either!!

Like I said earlier, one RSA is more than enough!
