    Hi All,

The issue relates to the CQ61 - the machine appears to boot ok, but the screen is totally pitch black. I can't see anything in either darkness or light.

I think its the inverter, but my question is - is there a way of booting from the HDMI out? I cant see the screen so can't log in, and the fn f4 doesn't seem to change the output to the HDMI...

PS3's have a function to resolve this, i was wondering is there an easy way to do it with the Compaq CQ61?

Google results suggest this is a common problem but no real fix available.

    Try here and here.

If they are no help, try a re-install of Operating system.
