Hope this hasn't been covered before, apologies if it has. But is there such a thing as a definite position where to hold your arms while running for best performance?? Or is it whatever the runner is comfortable with. I nearly have mine hanging down fully straight, hands are held at my bellybutton say. Is this to low, just curious at what people think.

There's probably as many arm positions as there are runners - and some of them are almighty strange. Even the likes of Gebrselassie has a quirky lower arm action.

Sprinters have drilled arm positions in close to the body, 90 degree angle etc. For distance runners though I'd say the key is relax hands, arms and shoulders, don't swing across the body and you won't go far wrong.

see http://fellrnr.com/wiki/Arm_Position for some opinion; this is related to improving your cadence

My position would be more like the picture on the left of the link above. My cadence isn't the best so. Feel when i have my arms held higher my breathing is not as strong.
