Renault scenic problems

    Hi folks

looking for a bit of advice please. I have a 6 y.o Grand scenic 1.6 petrol since new.
Over the last few years, Its being a real nightmare. Anyway the latest problem is that the electrics are giving real grief. The electronic display is going on/off, fuel gauge & remaining kms are erratic and there have been problems with the car starting.
Over the last 6 mths or so a new battery has gone in it, starter re-conditioned & a bit of wiring done.

I think the EMU electronics (?) is on the way out, but I am unsure. I heard that it costs about €1,000 to get replaced? Would a diagnostic test tell the story?

Is this a likely solution & does the cost sound about right. Does it have to be done at a Renault dealer?
Obviously is there a cheaper remedy? I might just get shot of it next year if I could rely on it to get through the next few months.
    Any views or advice please!

Talk to renault dealer for a replacement dashboard. I think they are cheaper(around 150 Euro I guess) than expected due to early malfunctions of so many units
