Hey I'm a huge fan of Metal Gear Solid but I've never played MGS1. I can download it for PS3 but I would much prefer to played the newer version of it for Gamecube. I can get my hands on a WII so I just need the disc. The reason I ask on here is that I know there's a lot of collectors around and surely somebody has a copy just lying there. If you have it and are willing to lend/rent/sell it to me I'd be a very happy person. I will return it as soon as I finish it in the exact condition I receive it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You

I have a copy of the US version which is easily playable with a boot disk (which I also have). The only problem is it is stored in my sister in laws basement in Clare. Probably won't get my hands on it till Christmas. If you have no luck by then I can sort you out.

Thank you :D I'm not in a rush until then anyway because of exams and stuff so anytime after Christmas would be perfect. I've never heard of a boot disc but I take it the WII will be ok and everything ya?

I assume so. Never tried it on the Wii but I'm guessing there will be no problems. Just remind me closer to the time..

Use Adverts.ie next time guys or I'll have to give out infractions. Boards.ie isn't for buying and selling.

The original version is better in my opinion, the GC remake made a few additions that unbalanced the gameplay. decent as a remake, but you're better off playing the much easier to find psone original.

I's actually go so far as to say it's a bit crap. The new voice acting sounds phoned in, the change in voice actress in Mei Ling is crap, using the first person aiming breaks the game and makes it far too easy and the cutscenes are laughably bad.

Ya sorry my bad, I never thought about putting a wanted ad on adverts.

I actually downloaded the original on the PS Store a while back but after I fought Psycho Mantis and went back out into the open, the textures and colors were so bad and alike that I couldn't find how to advance. I was pretty surprised how much I was actually enjoying it though considering how old it is. If the original is that much better I might just start that again and fully follow the story. Thanks

I'd actually go so far to say it's one of the worst games I've ever played:eek: Never got into the whole MGS thing. Splinter Cell was always a far more superior stealth game.

I remember getting stuck for a while here back in 1999. I think there's an area you have to crawl under, just go right, then left after you leave Psycho Mantis' room. There'll be
    wolves
in the area after you crawl.

Ya thanks, I just got through it before you replied. Man it's weird and hard to play a game like this because new games are so linear it's simple to see where your going but so refreshing. I think I might just start the PS version again so I can follow the story closely the whole way through

Not sure if the HD collection is out yet, or coming soon on the PS3, but if that's an option then it might be the better one?

I personally enjoyed Twin Snakes, yeah the cut scenes were ridiculous etc... but so are the cut scenes in any of the other MGS games TBH!

[edit] As RetroGamer said though, the FPS aiming does make it a little too easy though.

The collection is being released here in February but it only has MGS 2, 3 and peace walker. Would have been nice to have the first too!

Its being re-released on the 3DS next summer if you can wait till then.
GC copy goes for a pretty high price for a second hand game, saw a few copies around for like €50!!!

Never played the GC version so I can hold off on playing a MGS game till the 3DS updated version comes out.

    Just my thought on it.

Snake Eater (MGS3) is being re-released on 3DS, not Twin Snakes:
