    Novice brewer here.

I have a batch of Muntons Continental Pilsner on the go. The instructions say to only use returnable bottles, as one trip cannot withstand conditioning pressure.

I've used plastic bottles previously but had already decided to use glass this time. My local gave me a couple of crates of empty Bud Light bottles to use. My question is, how do you tell which are one trip an which are returnable? Secondly, is it really an issue at all?

I have used many different types of bottles over the last few years and never had a problem. They were all 500ml bottles wheat beers, ales etc. The regular bud bottles are fairly thick and heavy I think? What are the bud light bottles like? You should really only come into bother with bottles if you overprime or bottle your beer before fermentation is done. Refundable bottles are thick and heavy like bulmers bottles probably and able to take the abuse they get.
