    Hi,
Have a Mira 88 Mixer Unit Shower about 8 years old and its leaking from the Centre Control Dial, I was reading online its possible to get a replacement seal set. Is this a DIY job to replace seals or would I be better getting a plummer.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Ger.

If you are confident in doing a bit of plumbing then its your call , if its the concealed valve then it gets more awkward , it can be sometimes be hard to get the brass cover assembely off to get into the cartridge , also if its not properly secured to timber behind the wall the pipes can get damaged when trying to take the cover assembely off , once you get this covrr off the rest is simple , just remember in what order you take things apart .

    Thanks Sullz,
I think I need to open it see what I can take apart and see exactly whats leaking and take it from there, I have read online that the brass cover assembly can be tricky to take off, will have a look and see how it goes!

The only real problem with getting the brass cover assembley off is that it does be siezed on also you need a large enough wrench to grip it , something like a stilson , if you are going to work on it you should just replace the cartridge rather than just replacing seals .

    Hi Sullzz,
The attach Pic, do I start at each size removing screws at A The Control Dial at C does not come off, so did.nt force.

if you are going to work on it you should just replace the cartridge rather than just replacing seals .

    Where is the Cartridge?

Remove the temperature control knob , you might have to pop it off with a flat head screwdriver , then you will have to remove a little brass horseshoe shaped retaining clip that is clipped around the spindle holding the cobtrol knob on , when you pull the control knob on it leaves the brass cover exposed , you need a stilson or similar type wrench to remove this by turning anti clockwise , the cartridge is the fitting located inside this cover i think on the picture its called the internal set , if it were me id just replace that , although it looks like a lot in that picture its just 1 part , you dont need to do anything with anything marked "A" in the picture unless there is a leak from this part .
Also make sure you have the hot and cold water turned off to the shower before you start .

Thanks for that, will have a go at that, seems simple enough! Will post back with details of how I get on!
