It's that time of year again when the decorations go up on O'connell street, unfortunatly people are
subjected to that godawful christmas tree that stands beside the spire, another ugly landmark).

Anyway since people have come up with some funny names for the spire over the years I was thinking
that maybe the posters of boards could come up with some funny names for the tree.
All I could think of so far was tacky.,
(not very catchy) but if you have any better names to call this ugly pile of crap then be my guest.

    I haven't been on O'Connell Street lately.

Is there actually something wrong with the tree, or are you just a Grinchy f*ck?

Cmon, don't you miss the tall Evergreen tree that they used to decorate with coloured christmas lights, now that was a real crhistmas tree instead of this pound shop replacement.

I dont think it looks too bad. Although it would certainly look better if there were more colours.

As for the spire, I dont see what everyone's gripe is. Nelson's Pillar was pretty much the same, except it was made of stone and had a little guy on top.

If I put a guy on top of the Spire will you all stop moaning?

I used to love O'Connell Street at Christmas time. The big old trees with traditional lights and a traditional Christmas tree in the center. Now it just looks incredibly tacky.

I don't hate eco friendly methods, the new tree just looks like it was made some tacky balls welded together

The tree is OK, but needs to be cleaned. I do miss a real tree sometimes though.

    The spire is awesome though.

I actually like the tree too... I prefer it when it's just the white lights... Not a fan of the colours...

But what does annoy me about it, is when the lights aren't working at all... Which seems to happen an awful lot. Realistically, the tree looks awful in the day. I think it's pretty at night when it's all lit up. But when the lights aren't working it's just metal wire ball things that look stupid...

I've noticed a few of the balls lights not working the past two years or so...

Yep, I also like the O'Connell St. Christmas tree. When it comes to Christmas decorations, the tackier the better, imo.

Some people are never happy. When you look at some of the utter sh*tters you realise it's actually nice. Irish people love to moan and are never happy, I realised that a long time ago.

I like the tree at night, but during the day it looks a little sad.

That tree looks like they assembled all the crappy cheap plastic tat from all
the surrounding eurosaver shops and formed it into a pyramid of glowing crap.
