What am I to do with her (my Jap 360) ?

Not sure really how retro this is but I know all shmup talk happens here and well that's why I bought my Jap 360.

Problem is that while I have a few games like Ketsui, Raiden IV, Raiden Fighters Aces, Espgaluda II and Tetris ACE... I almost NEVER use the 360. I know I WILL play these games again at some stage and would never sell the games.

So without the 360 the games are no good (for playing - but I can still look at them there on my shelf :)). I am thinking that 5/6 years from now the Jap 360 might be knackered and I'd never really used it = what a waste.

I am also thinking that if I sell/swap the 360 now I could get something decent that I would use now and later down the line mod a PAL 360 to play my Jap library games (is that even possible?).

So what do I do ? My daughter is 5 and I'd love to get her a 3DS with Mario Kart 7 for Christmas so we can play against each other :)

Would I miss the 360 too much ? ofc I have a PAL 360 and Death Smiles, DoDoPachi and Mushimeshime (?). argh... what to do ?

    help me decide :(

You can play the JAP games on a PAL console (and vice versa) but you have to hardware mod your console which has the caveat getting you banned from xbox live online play. Maybe an option for you in 10 years when live is no longer around :)

hmmmm.... well I wasn't sure I 'could' post for trade in the trading sub-forum as it's not really retro. I pm'd Logie but no response.

Really all I'd be interested in for this would be a) a 3ds + game (for daughter) or b) cash so I could get my daughter a 3ds + game :)

As for 10 years time. Will 'live' be dead ? I am assuming (hoping) all my current 360 downloaded titles will be good to go on a 720(?).

Such is the dilemma of downloading games and having no original copy.

I would imagine anything that's downloaded to your harddrive and doesn't require any kind of online authentication to work will be fine.

Things like games that authenticate with servers, or are just for online play will go once those servers are shut down. Happened with the online functionality of original Xbox games. My Steel Battalion online disc is now useless :(

If you don't use XBL, I'd look at modding it to make it multi-region etc. Otherwise sell or trade it on if its never going to get used.

What are they worth ? Are they about the same as a PAL ? I would imagine it would be worth a little more.

Easily worth a good bit more than a PAL considering you can't get them here and they're quite desirable to shmup fans. Check playasia to see how much a new one costs including shipping and compare to the cost of a new PAL one and adjust accordingly for it being secondhand. I would've thought it was worth way more than a 3DS especially if there is a redesign coming in the new year, 100 more or so maybe?

If you adore shmups then keep it, so you can play the first 360 DoDonPachi, Ketsui, etc.

If you are a moderate fan then you have Mushimimesama Futari 1.5, Espgaluda II and Much Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets to paly on your PAL machine as they are region free. DoDonPachi Resurrection (ie Dai Fukkatsu) and DeathSmiles both received a PAL release too.

I love shmups from time to time. I go through phases :)

I have Ketsui and not really played it. Raiden Fighters Aces (which was getting a PAL release but it's cancelled) and Raiden IV are my favourites on the 360.

I have PAL Mushi, DoDon & Deathsmiles. I didn;t know Espgaluda II was region free/PAL. You sure ?

Ok. The fact I am playing it right now on my PAL 360 makes my think you MIGHT be correct ;)
