    Hi all,

I'm looking for a new TV show to watch. I'd prefer something thats been on for a few seasons so that I'd have episodes to watch most evenings.

Shows I have watched and loved are: 24, CSI, Medium, The Mentalist, Fringe, Desperate Housewives and Lie to Me.

So far I have seen every episode of the above and as some of them have been cancelled, I need a new show.

So can anyone recommend a good show please? :)

the sopranos, the shield, the wire, deadwood

four of the best tv shows of modern times

honourable mentions for sons of anarchy and justified, justified in particular isn't as "heavy" as the top 4 but it's a solid crime drama. takes a few episodes to find its rythym but once it gets going it's fantastic, especially the second season.

The Sopranos, the Wire & the West Wing are a must. Alot of people don't realise how good the West Wing was, I thought it would be boring knowing what it was about etc but boy was I wrong! Best show I've ever watched.

the first four odd seasons of the west wing were great television, then it just became democractic script writers engaging in a televised masturbation session for 3-4 more seasons.

what, season 7 was a great season, it suffered for a bit alright when sorkin left after season 4, but even when it was bad it was still better than 90% of everything else on tv,

Chuck is another great show, its currently in its last season (season 5), so if you start watching now you might get through it in time to see the final episode with the rest of us :D:D, it about a guy working as a computer tech in a store who gets a CIA/NSA super computer (intersect) downloaded into his brain and is assigned 2 handlers to protect him, while also helping out on missions using the intersect to help them out,

Covert Affairs is another decent show, it finnishing up season 2 at the moment, and has been renewed for season 3, its about a girl fresh out the CIA training camp who is more or less thrown into the deep end cause of her past (and skills), its starts off fairly good, but it has relly taken off in its second season,

White Collar is another good show, its currently on a midseason break on series 3, so a good bit if watching there, its about a master con artist who get caught by the FBI and ends up working for them to help catch other art thiefs,

if you like CSI and 24 id deffinately recomend the new Hawaii Five-0, its not far into season 2 but its a fairly good show,

You should check out Bones and Rizzoli & Isles.

Watched a few episodes of Prison Break but I didn't like it. The Shield seems promising though.

If you liked Fringe/LOST, you'll probably love Battlestar Galactica, buy
the mini series first, sci-fi done right.

Loved that show, and blasted through all 70+ episodes over Xmas 2009. Epic.

Or Game of Thrones, that's excellent as well

    +1 for The Sopranos

I never watched it before Sky Atlantic started it again earlier this year - What a joy of a programme to watch.....

Also Battlestar Galactica was absolutely epic...

Another vote for Breaking Bad, excellant show that always keeps you in suspense!

Something a little different from the previously mentioned would be Arrested Development - there's only 3 seasons right now but you can buy the boxset on play.com for feck all. And season 4 is supposed to be in production so hopefully there'll be more soon.

+1 for Chuck, but maybe wait for the last season (5) to end (9 more episodes - #5 is mid-december) and watch them all together/in order.
Burn Notice seems interesting, but i've only seen a few - it's on something like season 4 (UK, on FX)

There's also a thread on recommendations

Supernatural too. It's on S7 of US TV, so you've plenty of backlog.
    Warehouse 13
    (A Town Called) Eureka

Breaking Bad (Best show on TV for the last few years and is up there with the best of all time)

Sopranos (Absolute classic, probably my favorite TV show of all time)

The Wire (Another classic, is also up there with the best of the best)

Dexter (Season 1-3 are excellent. Season 4 is absolutely fantastic. Season 5 was meh to the max)

The Shield (Great show that gets the heart beating)

    How I Met Your Mother

    The Big Bang Theory
