    Hi All,

I bought a new Ipad 2 (32gb wifi) for my wife today as an xmas present. She is not getting it until xmas morning. The package is fully sealed in plastic but was wondering whether I should open it up in advance of giving it to her, to sync it up to Itunes and add vids/photos/music on it.

Also, any good apps for Ipad recomendations that (if i do preload it) I should put on?

    thanks a million

If it were me I would be inclined to set it up and have it ready to go and if there were any probs or faults it would give you a chance to exchange it if necessary.

You could re-wrap it as best you can to make it appear as if unopened.

    Lucky wife....:(

i would be inclined not to open it. There is some joy in unboxing a nice shiny ipad. If you open it yourself you will have smudgy marks on the screen and you will have bypassed all the intro stuff. Also, she will need an itunes account. That's going to be her email address, password and credit card details (for buying apps, etc). Maybe it's something you might enjoy doing together on Christmas day?

It takes all of 30 seconds to 'unbrick', once its plugged into a pc with itunes launched.

    Updating takes a lot longer.

Look on the top/bottom side of the box: if you see the Cloud symbol, it already has iOS5, and doesn't require much updating, you can pretty much leave it alone.

Either way half the fun of an iPad is the unboxing.
