My web browser is Google Chrome and I use Google as my home page and default search engine.

Of late, when I am on an internet site and highlight something, right click for a search I am redirected to "search.babylon.com". I have removed this through the "Add/remove programmes" section of the Control Panel but this has made no difference.

I have seen online comments on this with recommendations to right click on the toolbar of the browser or to click on "add-ons" but I have been unable to find this feature on my browser.

The nuisance with "Babylon" is that it shows lots of advertisements and, simply, does not perform in the same manner as Google, which is what I have become used to using.

I should add that scans with Microsoft Security Essentials, Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware failed to detect any problem.

System information: Hewlett Packard Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC. AMD Turion Dual Core RM 72 2.10Gh. Memroy 4.00 GB. 32 Operating System.

    Any help appreciated.

I don't use Chrome, so can't tell you exactly, but look for a menu item like 'Configure search providers' or similar. There was a thread here recently about a similar problem on Chrome. Disabling any toolbar it wastes your screen space with wouldn't be a bad idea either ! A laptop I had to use recently with FF had this installed, very annoying, would not let me enter a URL into the address bar, insisted on searching for me. Grrrr.

It may be connected with a slideshow screensaver ?

Many thanks, Bonzodog2 and yoyo, for taking the time to reply and for your suggestions.

I have gone through the Add/remove move and removed it that way and then in Google - Tools - Options - Manage Search Engines and removed Babylon there. Also, put Google back as my default search engine.

    It seems to be sorted.

    Many thanks.
