I want to build a makeshift fig rig to shoot video with but i cant find the screw to fit the hole at the bottom of my camera. I went to my hardware and they said i need a screw with metric sized threads. They popped a screw into my camera but i wouldnt screw in very far, any futher would of wrecked the threads. Do i need to but these online? Would be a pain if i did seeing as its only a screw.

Buy a really really cheap tripod, like the really small one's that fit in your pocket. Pop the screw from it and off ya go.

I was hoping i would have to come to that. Like surely a screw couldnt cost more then 1 or 2 euro. (no silly jokes :P )

In photography, a tripod is used to stabilize and elevate a camera, or to support flashes or other photographic equipment. All photographic tripods have three legs and a mounting head to couple with a camera. The mounting head usually includes a 1/4" diameter, 20 threads per inch (1/4-20) thumbscrew which couples to a female receptor located on the vast majority of cameras.

1/4-20 UNC which you will get in any good engineering suppliers.
I probably have a few in my workshop.

I think might be the route ill need to take, contacting a specialist who could get me the screws.

Is there anywhere you can get these retail ? I went looking a while back for bolts with the same screw thread tooo make a tripod mount for a camera I was making and no hardware stores seemed to
stock anything other than the standard metric sizes.
