    Hello,
I have a HTC wildfire S, i was having trouble with making my own location based app on this phone. then from messing around with the bundled maps application i found that:

GPS on its own rarely works.
Finding location via WiFi works every time. however using this method is less accurate.
just wondering if anyone has a fix? or am i just stuck with a very poor GPS on my phone?

I have no issues with mine?

Nor when I was on older software!

    What software are you running?

    Mine is 2.3.5

    Software 2.13.401.2

No issues here with GPS with the Wildfire. Download GPS test and enter the settings and try clear the AGPS and update it. Bear in mind a GPS lock takes a lot longer when you are not using network data.

I didn't know there was an update out. When you'd get that?

Not an OTA update, the latest Euro stock software in an RUU flasher over on XDA,
only a few minor improvements to be honest, did manage to sort out a rotten bug I was getting though....

Not sure if you need s-off to use it, I got mine done a while back in a Chinese shop in town...

how long roughly? i left it for 5 minutes without network data and still got nothing.
how would i clear the AGPS?

android version 2.3.3, HTC sense version 2.1

A few minutes generally. You'd have to have a clear view of the sky too.

Clearing and updating AGPS may work (download GPS Tool from the Market and there is an option in the settings) but bear in mind you'll need to have network access for that. That use to help me when I had a LG Optimus One; that thing would never get a fix no matter what you did.
