2nd Year module in Legal Science on the Arts course, not sure if other courses have it.

It's a single semester module assessed entirely by essays, no exams or anything. What happens if you fail it? I have missed out on handing a number of the assignments in for a variety of farcical reasons that I don't care to go into, is it a case of having to do the assignments next semester but capped at 40% or something?

Talk to your lecturer now about it is the best case scenario

You would probably have to repeat the final essay/assignment which is worth 60% if I recall correctly.

Might be a bit bitchy, but learning how to spell 'Methods' in your title probably wouldn't be the worst place to start...

More helpful comments and less of a grammar nazi in future please.

OP, as PomBear said, go to your lecturer and ask him/her. They'll be able to tell you definitively what's the story with failing CA. it's better to go in person and try and plead with the lecturer for leniency than by email.

Being unable to differentiate between a typo and not knowing how to spell a word must be a low point for you.

Not being able to use spell check must be difficult. Also if ye have a problem report me to a mod, don't just use bold lettering to *shout* @ me...

I wasn't being bitchy, i was being serious. The amount of spelling errors is shocking in docs these days. I correct them on a regular basis, I genuinely meant OP should spell and grammar check so as not to lose marks when it counts.

The bold letterer is a mod...

Whilst you make a valid point - it definitely does reflect poorly on a student if they either cannot spell or are too lazy to make the effort - you didn't capitalize your 'i' when you were being serious. It happens to the best of us!
And incidentally, Roland is, I think, despite the sneaky name change, a mod for this forum...

Didn't notice the mod tag, four stars is a reg user right, not a forum mod?

Also i generally use lower case 'i' for mid-sentence and upper case 'I' for the start of sentences. I tend to follow it in most unofficial things that i write. Apologies if it offends.

It's every bit as wrong as "Methosd". I had given you the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was a typo. You should now hand in your Grammar Nazi card.

You probably should have emailed your lecturer during the semester about your circumstances. If the lecturer is who I think he is, I don't think he will be too understanding, especially only bringing this to his attention now.

It's actually a woman, and from my interactions with her in the past she doesn't seem very helpful or understanding in the slightest.

Surely I'm not going to fail the year without a chance to repeat anything in this module? Yet every single other module has a facility to repeat? I have these assignments done and everything, I just wasn't able to hand them in.

A girl in my class failed that module and had to repeat it during the summer. So I presume that is what will happen in your case. Unless you have a medical cert then she might be more lenient. The only way you will know is if you email her!

Thanks. Repeating in the summer is what I'm asking about, I don't mind doing that (well obviously I'd rather not but you pay the price, literally). How did she repeat if it's all essays though?

Folks, no more being grammar nazis and the general bitchiness stops. Final warning.
Read the charter and look at the bottom of the forum page for a list of mods/Cmods.

We've had 4 posts since any of that happened, please don't derail my thread with any more unnecessary 'warnings'. I know you're a new mod and don't have much to do yet, but we get it.

You will be given all the assignments to do again but they will be different to the ones you have done and you will have to pay the €200.

When I did it there were no ECTS for it so it wasn't an issue if we failed. However, if you want to do the LLB then you HAVE to have completed it.

Got my hopes up there, but it's 5 ECTs.

oh was gonna say what lockstep said, wasnt worth any credits when I did it, and didnt contribute to the overall mark at end of the year.

It must have changed though. I would suggest e-mailing or meeting your lecturer, you never know they might accept them but otherwise I think you will probably have to pay the 200 euro and repeat all the assignments which will most likey have different titles.

That's fine, my responsibility and all. I'm not really looking for special treatment, and certainly don't expect it from this lecturer. I was just making sure that they aren't going to turn around and tell me I've failed the year without any chance of repeating (wouldn't put it past NUIG).
