Bathroom/Kitchen Proximity

    Hi all,

Currently looking at houses to rent and have found one we're in love with. Only thing is there seems to be a bathroom attached to the kitchen.

The bathroom is obviously a separate room, but the entrance into it is in the kitchen and I was wondering if that is in fact within regulations, because it seems odd to me.

    Thanks.

You would be right to feel it's odd - usually its nice to have two doors between a WC and Kitchen i.e. a lobby of some sort - but the regs appear to be more lenient than that!

    Part G - Hygiene
2.5 A room or space containing a water closet should be separated from a place used for the preparation or cooking of food by means of: -
    (a) in the case of a building used solely as a dwelling, a door, and (b) in any other case, a properly ventilated passage or lobby.
