I remember being told by a UK based job contact that my number hadnt worked. It was written like this:

    353 851234567

Is there a more correct or accepted standard way of writing it? Would this be better?:

    +353 851234567

    or one of these..?

    +353851234567

    (353) 851234567

Yeah I think I'll use a version that will work if dialled directly into the phone, so I'll include the 00.

    I usually write +353 (0)1 400 1234

I wouldn't write 00 as this is European specific and doesn't work for Americans.

    I always write my no as +353 (0)87 123 4567

"+" is the standard notation for international dialling access.

It occurred to me that it was specific to a country alright, but I didn't see the harm because it's for a specific UK position. Better to do things the standard way though, and it might be condescending or foolish for me to think that they mightn't get it.

Yeah just noticed that there, should be just two [00]

No, you are telling someone in Ireland to dial 00 000 44 which has three too many zeros. You might end up contacting the next galaxy.

    that is the most correct
    I give up..

He just means that the 00 and the + are equivalent, so "+00" is equivalent to "0000".
