Laptop issue

I have an Asus A52F Windows 64-bit laptop. Recently the left clicker button has been causing some issues. It works on and off, sometimes it can be fine for hours then just stop working completely for an hour or two, then others it can change from minute to minute. I've updated the driver etc since the issues have started and it hasn't helped. Does anybody have an idea of how to fix this?

    Did anything spill on it?

I would try to get some linux live cd / different OS and work on it until left button fails - just to eliminate software issue.
    Try updating your BIOS too

Think I fixed it by doing a full power reset (?)

I have since broken the power jack so can't even use the thing. FML
