    OP, try a few different dedicated forex places like xe.com they usually have competitive rates

    You could try Currency Fair (no affiliation). It's like Betfair for currencies, so you'd get the best rate offered by people offering dollars, without the bank commissions.

    Ring FEXCO Ely place for a quote. They were actually cheaper than Bank staff rates (when I worked in a bank)
